Given by Mrs Harriet Johnston to the people of Pokeno, when she arrived from England in 1892 Pokeno was the gateway to Auckland from the Waikato. The church was erected on 4th Nov 1899, cost including the land £1000, & is built of wood & shingle. There are bells within the spire & it has lovely stained glass windows. Consecrated by Archbishop Cowie on 25 Mar 1900.
